So go home and try out these recipes and see how your dessert world needn't vanish! You can still have your favorite desserts and eat low calorie—it's all possible with just the right recipe!

Low Calorie Strawberry Chiffon Dessert

  • 1 (4 serving) envelope low-calorie strawberry gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 pint strawberries, hulled and crushed
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup low-calorie whipped topping

Dissolve the gelatin in boiling water. Stir in strawberries and lemon juice. Chill until slightly thickened, then fold in the whipped topping. Spoon into individual dessert dishes. Chill until set (about two hours). Makes six servings at 44 calories per serving.

Low Calorie Layered Dessert

  • 1/4 cup diet butter
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package diet chocolate pudding
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 1/3 cup diet cream cheese
  • 10 package artificial sweetener
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 8 teaspoons coconut
  • Low-calorie whipped topping

Mix the butter, flour and salt with a pastry blender. Press the mixture into an eight-inch pie pan and bake at 375 degrees for fifteen minutes. Let cool.

Create the filling by mixing cream cheese, vanilla, and sweetener until smooth, then add the coconut. In a separate bowl, mix the chocolate pudding according to the package directions.

Put the cream cheese filling mixture on the crust. Slice bananas on top of the mixture, and then evenly pour the pudding on top of the bananas. Top with the low-calorie whipped topping, to taste. Refrigerate until ready to serve. This recipe makes four servings.

Low Sugar Chocolate Dessert

  • 2 boxes sugar-free chocolate pudding
  • 1 box sugar-free whipped topping
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 pound butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts
  • 8 ounces Neufchatel cheese (lower calorie than cream cheese), room temperature
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 cups milk (for pudding mix)
  • 1 cup cold milk (for whipped topping mix)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla (for whipped topping mix)

Mix together melted butter, flour and nuts. Crumble into a 9 x 13-inch pan and bake at 350 degrees for twenty-five minutes, chopping up crust frequently.

Prepare the whipped topping according to directions on the package. Mix together Neufchatel cheese, powdered sugar, and two cups of the whipped topping.

Prepare the chocolate pudding mix according to directions, but use only 3 cups of milk.

When the crust is cool, spread over it the Neufchatel mixture. Cover this layer with the pudding mixture. Spread with remaining whipped topping as the top layer. Sprinkle with nuts, if desired. Chill and serve cold.
