Summary: Coffee cake is one of those cakes that you will want to be able to make whenever you want. Here is a great recipe that you will want to make again.

There are a few various types of cake that are good to know how to make at the drop of a hat. You never know when you will be asked to make a cake or when you just might be in the mood for to make something delicious! You will never be sorry to have a few tried-and-true methods up your sleeve for a tasty dessert here and there. Coffee cake is one of those recipes that is always good to have on hand and always pretty easy to make. Here is a great recipe for you to become familiar with—it will always be a hit!

You will need the following ingredients:

  • 1-1/2 cups of flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup of milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

To start out, sift the cup and a half of flour, and then resift it with the salt and baking powder. Once you have the dry ingredients all sifted together (and it definitely is important to sift them), put them aside. Get out another bowl, and put the butter and scant 1/2 cup of sugar in; proceed to cream the ingredients together. Once the butter and the sugar are creamed together, beat in the egg, the milk, and the vanilla. Once you beat in those ingredients, add the dry ingredients. Stir the dry ingredients in until the batter is smooth and then spoon it into a greased pan. Before you bake it, top with the following topping.

For the topping, you need the following ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of flour
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 3 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon

This is the easiest part of the whole coffee cake–making process. All you have to do for the topping is mix it with a hand mixer until it is crumbly. Once you have the topping mixed up, sprinkle it over the cake batter before you put it in the oven. The oven should be preheated to 375 degrees, and you should bake the batter for twenty to twenty-five minutes. This is one of the easiest and tastiest recipes you can make, and it will make for a great addition to your dessert arsenal. Have fun and enjoy!
