Christmas Wassail

Summary: Christmastime comes around and it's time to let out all the stops. One of those stops is the Christmas wassail and you want the perfect kind. Here's a favorite recipe of mine that's never failed to please!

It's the holiday season again and you're ready for some exciting Christmas food. You just love the homemade candies, the hot chocolate, the cookies, and of course you can't forget the wassail! Finding a good wassail recipe can be difficult sometimes and you may have had to go through a bout of wassail experiments and not all of those experiments may have succeeded.

One of the things about Christmas wassail is that it always tastes best homemade—this isn't something you can just pick up on the shelf. Try out my favorite wassail recipe from home and be amazed as your search for the perfect Christmas wassail comes to a close!

  • 1 can of concentrated orange juice
  • 1 can of concentrated lemonade
  • 1-1/2 cups of sugar
  • 20 cups of water
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons of almond extract

(This recipe is doubled and makes quite a bit, so if you want to half it for quantity's sake that's completely acceptable.)

All you have to do is simply combine the ingredients in a large pot and heat, while stirring to make sure all the ingredients combine. This has always been a crowd pleaser and it's a drink that can stay on the stove all day. Once the drink is hot, you'll want to turn down the burner because you don't want the wassail to boil, otherwise it could boil away some of the water, leaving a more concentrated flavor then you may like. You can also keep this drink on a cold burner overnight and reheat it up in the morning. You can keep heating and reheating this wassail until it's all gone! Here's to a happy holiday season, now an even happier one because of the favorite Christmas wassail!
