Beautiful Banana Cream Cheesecake

Summary: Ah, banana cream pies and cheesecake. Just the thought of these makes my mouth water. Here is an interesting recipe where you can add the two of the together.

Two of my favorite desserts tastes are cheesecake and banana cream pies. So when I came across a recipe that actually combined these two favorites I just had to rush out and try it out immediately. I am extremely pleased to say that the results were absolutely fabulous. I used to think that I could only find such combinations of tasty desserts at high end restaurants such as The Cheesecake Factory, Chili's, or Applebee's.

Now, since I found this recipe, I can have something that is of the same quality, at only a fraction of the price. Ever since I first tried this recipe with friends and family, I have never heard the end of it. My kids are constantly asking for us to have it again. I think that you are going to be pleasantly surprised to get similar results. Just follow this recipe and you are going to get just that.

Cake Ingredients:

  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup mashed bananas—2 should work
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts—optional
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs

Cream Cheese Frosting Ingredients:

  • 1 package (3 ounces) softened cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 package creamy vanilla frosting mix

To begin, you need to get a 13x9x2 inch cake pan and grease and flour it and set it to the side. Then, start the pre-heating of your oven to 350 degrees. When that it done, start mixing your cake ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Do this with an electric beater on low speed for 2-1/2 minutes. When everything has reached a nice, smooth consistency pour this into the baking pan. The cake mix is going to need to be cooked for between 35 and 40 minutes, or until the cake springs back when touched. When baking has been completed, set aside to cool and begin working on the frosting.

To make the icing, take the ingredients above and beat them in a small bowl using your electric mixer set on low speed. Start with the cream cheese and milk until they have become smooth and creamy. When this has been done, gradually add the frosting to the mix. When all the frosting has been added, beat on high for one minute until everything has reached again a smooth and creamy texture. If you need to add additional milk to achieve the desired consistency, using 1 teaspoon at a time, until you have something thin enough to spread. Once you have done this, go ahead and spread it onto the cake when it is cooled. Once spread, bon appetite!
