Delicious Spaghetti Sauce

Summary: You can get spaghetti just about anywhere, but nothing is quite so good as homemade spaghetti. Here's a recipe for homemade spaghetti sauce that will make you never want to go back to spaghetti from a jar.

Spaghetti is one of our family's favorite meals—it has that tendency to just hit the spot just when it's needed. One of the funny things about spaghetti is that you can find it in countless varieties of quality. You can go to a high end Italian restaurant and eat some of the best spaghetti sauce you've ever had, or you can go to a fast food joint and have quite disgusting spaghetti. It is all up to you regarding how you take your spaghetti. If you like your spaghetti good (now remember, that good spaghetti doesn't always have to be expensive spaghetti.) If you want great spaghetti, you need to have a great sauce. If you want great spaghetti that's not so expensive, then you need to learn how to make your own stellar spaghetti sauce. Here is a great recipe that will give you the best spaghetti sauce you've ever had!

You'll need the following ingredients:

  • 2 small onions
  • 4 cloves of garlic (leave them whole)
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 2 large (15 ounce) cans of tomato sauce
  • 2 large (12 ounce) cans and 1 small (6 ounce) can of tomato paste
  • 6 cups of water
  • 2 tablespoons of oregano
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • Dash of pepper

This is basically the easiest spaghetti sauce you will ever make in your whole life. It's incredibly better than any kind of sauce out of a can or jar—homemade sauce is the only way to go. Start off by sauteing the onions, garlic, and olive oil; cook until the onion is soft. Then all you have to do is add the other ingredients: the cans of tomato sauce, the cans of tomato paste, the water, the oregano, the sugar, the salt, the pepper. Mix it all together and add the sauteed ingredients. Then all you have to do is allow the sauce to simmer for two hours. Make sure that you cook the sauce slowly and that you stir it occasionally throughout its cooking time; otherwise, the sauce may end up burning to the bottom.

This recipe makes an incredible amount of sauce—you will probably never use all of it in one sitting. Don't be afraid of the vast amount of sauce you'll end up making, because what you can do with the rest of it is freeze it so you can pull it out next time you make spaghetti. The next time you have spaghetti for dinner, you won't have to make the sauce—all you'll have to do is take out the bag of frozen sauce, let it thaw, and heat it up! This is most definitely the most perfect spaghetti sauce recipe, ever!
