Barbequed Brisket

Summary: For a Sunday night when you still want to relax, try making some barbequed brisket. It doesn't take too much time for you—it just takes a lot of time to cook on its own. Let the brisket cook itself and you can kcik back and relax.

Barbequed brisket is one of my favorite homemade meals. It's pretty delicious and adds a special homemade flair to a simple meal. You may not be too familiar with brisket, or you may in the group of people whose favorite meal is brisket; either way, brisket makes a delicious meal and it's something that is actually not that difficult to make. It takes some time, but your friends and family will thank you and will beg you for more!

Here are the ingredients you need:

  • 2 ounces of liquid smoke
  • A few dashes of Worcestershire sauce
  • Onion salt
  • Garlic salt
  • Celery salt
  • Pepper
  • 6 ounces of barbeque sauce

Begin barbequing your brisket by marinating it. Marinating the brisket just means to soak it in a sauce (or mixture) to give the brisket flavor. Your brisket needs to be marinated in the liquid smoke and the Worcestershire sauce. Before you put the brisket in the marinade sauce, salt it well with onion salt, garlic salt, celery salt, and pepper. Marinate the brisket overnight. (Or, if you can't get it ready the night before, get it ready early in the morning and have it marinate all day—this isn't preferred, but it will work if you're going to have a late dinner.)

Once the brisket is marinated, put the brisket is a covered roasting pan. Then put the pan in an oven preheated to 275 degrees. Cook the brisket for about five hours. After the initial five hours, uncover the brisket and pour 6 ounces of barbeque sauce over it. (Homemade barbeque sauce works best, but you can get barbeque sauce out of a bottle if you must.) Baste the brisket every fifteen minutes while the brisket cooks for another hour.

So, as you can see, barbequed brisket is super easy to make—it hardly takes any cooking attention of your own! It takes a lot of cooking time on its own, but as long as you make the time that the brisket needs to cook. In all, the brisket needs six hours to cook and several more hours to marinate before you can cook it in the first place. You definitely can't make this on a whim because it takes so long. Be sure to make the time to cook is correctly and you'll have a brisket that your friends and family will all love!
