Amazing Dinner Rolls

Summary: Rolls are often one of the best parts of the meal, and if made perfectly, the rolls can be the perfect thing to set off your Sunday night meal. Here is a great dinner roll recipe that will leave your family wanting seconds.

Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas dinners are some of the dinners that people look forward to most. They are full of delicious meats, delicious vegetables, delicious breads. The cook often feels like everything needs to be absolutely perfect, and while perfection sometimes isn't obtained, there is one part of your meal that can be perfected: the rolls. Here is a recipe that will allow you to make the best rolls ever—if you can make these rolls, then your holiday dinners will be pretty much to die for!

Here are the ingredients that you need:

  • 2 tablespoons of dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup of warm water
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar to activate the yeast
  • 1 cube of margarine or butter
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 2–3 cups of flour

The first thing you need to do when making these most amazing dinner rolls is to proof the yeast. You need to dissolve the yeast in the warm water (the water should be on the hotter side of warm, but not too hot; otherwise, the water could kill the yeast). Mix two tablespoons of sugar in with the yeast to activate the reaction. Once the yeast is bubbling, then it's ready to be added to the rest of the dough.

Proceed to melt the margarine (or butter if you choose) in a small saucepan, add the milk, and heat it all to warm it. Pour the warm mixture into a mixer (a Bosch or KitchenAid is best) and mix it a little bit. Add the sugar, salt, and flour to the mixture. Add it gradually, and mix it really well. Those dry ingredients should be mixed in very well into the rest of the mixture.

Once those ingredients are all well-combined, add the proofed yeast and beat the dough well (again!). Add the eggs and beat the dough until is bubbly. (The dough needs to be mixed extremely well for it to reach this point!) Stir in the extra flour for a soft dough. Pour the dough out into a large greased bowl (you can grease it by spraying it with Pam) and let it rise until it is double.

Once the dough is finished rising, shape them into rolls. Let them rise again, and then you're ready to bake them. It's best to put the roll-shaped dough onto a jellyroll pan and bake them in that. Bake the rolls in an oven preheated to 375 degrees for about twenty minutes. Once the rolls are finished baking, they are ready to complement your most amazing holiday meals! Enjoy!
