Fair Trade Coffee

Written by Karen Bates (last updated June 6, 2022)

There is no doubt that coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world. Many people wake up to this drink every morning and sip it during the day as a pick-me up, or simply because they enjoy the taste and smell coffee provides. It has definitely earned the distinction of being one of the world's most-loved drinks.

Coffee is available in a variety of roasts and flavors. You can also find decaffeinated coffee so that you can still enjoy the taste without the energy boost that could cause anxiety for some people. You can try flavored coffee, which offers new and interesting taste experiences for the drinker. Whatever your preferences may be, you are likely to find a kind of coffee that appeals to you.

You can also select your coffee based on other criteria, such as whether the coffee is fair trade or not. Fair trade coffee is purchased from producers in developing countries at a fair price, and in many cases the middle man is eliminated through this process. The idea is that more of the profits from the coffee go directly to the producers.

Fair trade coffee is now widely available. Whether you wish to buy a cup of fair trade coffee at your local coffee shop, or want to purchase the beans at the grocery store, you are likely to find fair trade coffee choices wherever you buy coffee.

There are various types of fair trade coffee available. If you prefer organic coffee, you can find a wide selection that is also fair trade. You can buy fair trade coffee in different roasts, such as dark, light, medium, and bold, just like any other coffee. You may also choose to buy packages of fair trade coffee with whole beans or already ground.

Although you should be able to find some kinds of fair trade coffee at local stores, you can find just about anything you might be looking for online. You can order a sampler set of various coffee types, or bags of one kind. Some of the best-known fair trade coffee includes Columbian, Nicaraguan, Rwandan, Peruvian, and Guatemalan, and all of these and more can be easily find on the internet.

Fair trade coffee is becoming a widely known option for coffee drinkers in many places. Give it a try, and you may be able to give more support to coffee producers who need it.
